General John Eaton died at Washington, February 9. After graduating from College, he took the course at Andover Theological Seminary. During his life he held many and varied important positions. He was state superintendent of schools of Tennessee, 1867-69; commissioner U. S. Bureau of Education, 1870-86; president Marietta College, 1886-91; president Sheldon Jackson College, Salt Lake City, 1895-99; and established the educational system in Porto Rico under the military occupation of the United States. He leaves a widow and three children.

Keverend L. H. Cobb died Monday, February 5, 1906.
