Dr. George Albert Underhill died suddenly at his home in Nashua, N. H., April 1, of edema of the brain. He had not been in strong health for a year or more, and during the winter had been confined to the house for several weeks. Dr. Underhill was the only child of George W. and Mary (Gale) Underhill, and was born in Nashua, December 20, 1857. He prepared for college at the high school of his native city, and in college took the course of the Chandler Scientific Department,, being a member of the Vitruvian fraternity, now Beta Theta Pi. He left college during junior year, and began the study of medicine, obtaining his degree at New York University in 1883. He was fulfilling a hospital appointment in New York when he was recalled to Nashua by the death of his father. He continued in practice in Nashua till 1903, when he bought out a drug store which he had since conducted. He was city physician in 1886 and '7, and a member of the board of education from 1891 to 1900, being its president the last two years. He was an Odd Fellow, a 32d degree Mason, and a member of the First Congregational church. Dr. Underhill was married October 6, 1886, to Helen M., daughter of . Charles P. Bell of Nashua, who survives him, with their two sons.
