Philip L. Brown, captain of the First Separate Squadron of Cavalry, Massachusetts National Guard, has been appointed an aide on the military staff of Governor Channing H. Cox '01.

Franklin Crosse, of the department of modern languages in the Barringer High School, Newark, N. J., has received from the French government the decoration of the academic palms. This decoration is usually awarded to literary men, artists, and scholars, and car ries with it the title of Officier d'Académie, with a violet ribbon decoration.
