Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with one of its strongest teams in years, came to Hanover on January 10 for the first game on the Memorial Field rink this year. The contest proved spectacularly fast and rough.
After the defense men had checked the opening Tech rush, Manser sneaked away with the puck and scored a goal single handed. During the afternoon, he tallied twice more and it was largely his work which kept the Green to the fore. Captain Everett was called into the game late in the first period when Manser collided with the boards and, although on the sidelines because of a severe cut in his foot, carried on brilliantly, scoring twice.
The goal tending of the Green was quite satisfactory. Anthony and Cleary, who had worked in earlier games, each held the opposition scoreless for a period and Tech's two scores were made against Fox, a baseball man drafted into service as net keeper.
Fryberger, Manser and Duplin started in the forward line and Dwyer and Captain Everett were used as subs. Hardy and Mills were the starting defense men and Rowe and Fryberger were sent in as relief men.
