E. G. Ham has been elected superintendent of schools at Springfield, Vt., and began work July 1.

Dr. J- P. Gifford of Randolph, Vt., has been appointed a member of the state board of health to fill a vacancy caused by death.

The following item from Franklin, N. H., appeared in the Manchester Union of May 6. "Parker E. Sawyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Augustus B. Sawyer, has won signal honors at Pawling School at Pawling, N. Y., according to word received here. He was awarded a scholarship carrying $l4OO and an additional $lOO for books, and in addition he also holds a perfectship. It was said it is the first time in the school's history that both honors have been conferred upon a single pupil. At the local high school,. Sawyer was on the football team, the track squad, and basketball quintet."
