The Harvard University Press announces the publication of a book, "Sheridan to Robertson", by Ernest B. Watson. This book covers the progress of the English stage from about 1800 to 1870, a period for which there has heretofore been no comprehensive, well-documented history. Watson's survey not only presents a vivid picture of these years in our dramatic history but corrects many current ideas as to the drama of that time. How vital a period it was may be judged from a few of the prominent names listed in the index—Dion Boucicault, Robert W. Elliston, Charles Kean, Edmund Kean, John Philip Kemble, William C. Macready, Charles Mathews, Jr., and Madame Vestris. There is an appreciative introduction from Prof. George Pierce Baker, nine- teen illustrations from rare originals in the Shaw Theatre collection at the Harvard College library, a complete bibliography, and a detailed index.

A card from "Duckie" Drake written at Buenos Aires brings news of reunions with "Celery" Paine and "Duke" Anguera, the latter in Montevideo. The "Duke" will attend the great 25th.

Arthur H. Ruggles has received an honorary degree at Dartmouth. President Hopkins' excellent and appropriate tribute may be read in another department of the MAGAZINE.
