New Council Members
DECEMBER 1929

At the recent meeting of the Alumni Council held in New York three new Amembers-atlarge were elected, on authority given by the Alumni Association at its meeting last June. In making the elections the Council was influenced by the desire to select members who would not only be able to give valuable service to the Council but also those who, owing to their place of residence, would not be so likely to obtain election under the normal process of balloting for geographical representatives. The following men were elected: Arba J. Irvin '02 of Tulsa, Oklahoma; John W. Pearson '11 of Concord, New Hampshire, and Wright Hugus '13 of Wheeling, West Virginia.

In 1928 he left Chicago to become the business manager of the Tulsa Tribune, a position which he now holds. He is a past president of the Chicago Alumni Association and the organizer and secretary of the Oklahoma Dartmouth Alumni Association.

Rollins and Sons in San Francisco and later with Bonbright, Herrick & Company in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been in Concord since 1923 as treasurer and director of the First Investment Company and New Hampshire Securities Company. He is also a director of the First National Bank and a past president of the Concord Chamber of Commerce. After graduating from Dartmouth in 1913 he received the degree of LL.B. from Harvard in 1916 and was admitted to the West Virginia Bar in the same year. He is a member of the firm of Schmidt, Hugus & Laas and is general counsel for the Wheeling Steel Corporation. He is a member of the American, West Virginia, and Wheeling Bar Associations.
