Chicago to Celebrate
October 1933

Word comes from Dick Gunthorp '26, director of publicity for the Dartmouth social events which will surround the Chicago football game November 25, that plans are now in progress for making this occasion a memorable one to Dartmouth men and their families in the Middle West. On the evening before the Big Green meets the University of Chicago team there will be a dinner at the Drake Hotel for all Dartmouth men who may be in the City at that time. Dean Craven Laycock '96, whose retirement to take effect in June has been announced by the College, will be the principal speaker.

Other plans call for class get togethers on the day of the game, Saturday, November 25, and a supper dance following the game Saturday evening. The Drake Hotel will be the official Dartmouth headquarters for the week-end. Railroads are offering special fares enabling the Chicago committee to arrange special cars from principal cities throughout the country.

More detailed plans will appear in the next issue of the MAGAZINE. Alumni desiring to have more complete information before that time may address Richard G. Gunthorp, 210 West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago. The week-end events will be sponsored by the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago, of which Samuel Banning 'OO is president, and John Goodwillie '3l is secretary.
