Plans for the new Church of Christ at Dartmouth College, to replace the historic "White Church" which was destroyed by fire in May, 1931, will be designed by Hobart Upjohn, of New York, it has been announced by E. H. Hunter, chairman of the building committee of the Church of Christ. Mr. Upjohn, the third in a distinguished line of architects, is a specialist in church architecture, particularly in the colonial style. Associated with him on the Church of Christ project will be Otto F. Langman, his New York associate, and the firm of Wells, Hudson and Granger of Hanover.
The architect for the new church which is to replace the famous Hanover landmark has designed more than thirty church buildings in the United States, including the recently completed All Souls' Church in New York city. For the design of his Village Chapel at Pinehurst, North Carolina, Mr. Upjohn received a diploma of merit from the International Exposition in Turin, Italy. His buildings also include the All Souls' Church, Water- town, N. Y.; Christ's Church, Fitchburg, Mass.; Chapel of the Cross, University of North Carolina; First Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, N. C.; and four churches at Greensboro, N. C. He is archietect for Hobart College.
