On Monday, March 27, the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia held its annual business meeting and dinner at the Cornell Club. We tried to make our party as inexpensive as possible, so an inf ormal buffet supper was decided on. Sidney Hayward, College Secretary, was our one and only speaker. The lantern slides and talk "Sid" gave went over with a bang. Jesse Gage '06, a member of the 1903 football team (the picture of this team was shown), named all the members of the team and gave us a little inside dope on how football was played in the good old days.
After the formal affair was over, the beer drinkers, story tellers, and song birds congregated in the card room, and the party broke up when the brew ran out.
The new officers elected were: Thornton Pray, president; William Pugh, vice-president; Donald Rogers, treasurer; Harlan P. Statzell Jr., secretary.
On April 28, the combined Dartmouth- Cornell Alumni Associations gave a luncheon in honor of our respective track coaches who had teams in Philadelphia for the Penn Relays. It was a great party, and everyone enjoyed seeing Harry Hillman in town again.
On May 4, the Dartmouth alumni duplicate bridge team defeated Cornell alumni team at the Cornell Club. The prize was a half barrel of beer and was enjoyed by all. This party was a warm-up for the annual Dartmouth-Cornell golf outing to be held Friday, May 12, at Riverton, N. J. We are competing for the cup which Cornell won last year.
