Jake Mason has bought the old Runnels estate in Lower Warner, N. H., on which is a beautiful house built in 1807, with much hand-carved woodwork and paneling and the original front entrance.
Ingie Fearing, Emile Erhard, Al Newton, Bob Burns, Phil Avery, Fred Carroll, Lyndie Tucker, and I went to Hanover for the Norwich game. Al's stories and Freddie Carroll's golf were outstanding as usual, and we all had a good time in spite of the cold and the rain.
Bob Burns has been breaking ninety frequently and cleaning up various handicap tournaments around Boston this summer. He tied for the first net prize in the alumni golf tournament played in the rain at Hanover Saturday morning, with a net score of sixty-nine. His gross coming in was forty-three, which was quite an accomplishment under the conditions. He is due to get a substantial slice taken from his handicap. If the state handicapper gets absentminded about it, I'll be among the first to remind him.
Sidney C. Hazelton Jr. is growing like a house afire and promises to be as big as Sid. He's also quite an athlete.
Phil Avery has been having a good deal of pain and difficulty with torn muscles in his back, but has otherwise fully recovered from his accident this summer.
