On February seventh Dean Laycock arrived for his last official visit to the Detroit Association. The annual banquet of the club was held in his honor in the Henry II room of the Hotel Statler. Dean Laycock was the guest speaker. Mr. Whelden on behalf of the club presented the Dean with a fine bronze combination clock and barometer as well as a sheet of the official club stationery signed by more than eighty Detroit Dartmouth men and the following message:

"To Craven Laycock

"Beloved Dean of Dartmouth-friend and counsellor to many generations of Dartmouth men—link between the College and the ranks of the alumni orator extraordinary saga cious, kindly, wise, unselfish, you have given, as few have given, your entire life in the service of the College. We present this gift to you as a small token of our esteem, our admiration, and our love. Your active days in the administration of Dartmouth afEairs are ending, but the College and the alumni know that your spirit, your influence, your devotion will continue on into the years.

"Hail and Farewell—Until we meet again!

"THE DARTMOUTH CLUB OF DETROIT."

After a very beautiful farewell talk by Dean Laycock, the meeting adjourned with "Men of Dartmouth." An informal reception was then held in the Dean's suite.

The next afternoon a small afternoon bridge party was held. At six-thirty, sixteen men assembled at Henry Ford's Dearborn Inn for dinner and bridge. Those present included Dean Laycock '96, Alexander Maynard '05, William Wyman '07, Roger Hill '08, Clifton Blake '09, Elmer Gray '17, Fred Husk '17, Scott Rutherford 'l7, James Bear '19, Philip Watson '19, John Packard '25, Ford Whelden '25, Robert Wiley '25, John Heavenrich '26, and Arthur Lyman '27. Mr. Wyman and Mr. Packard compose the management of the Dearborn Inn, and certainly staged a very delightful setting for this dinner.

Dean Laycock left Detroit the following morning—perhaps this was the last official visit, but certainly not the last social one. the football destiny of Dartmouth is in the hands of a man of character, personality, and proven ability.

The athletic department of the board of education of the city of Detroit has just announced the winner of the annual award of the Detroit Dartmouth cup. This cup is presented each year to that one of the city's sixteen high schools whose football team has the best combined scholastic and athletic record. Northeastern high school is the winner this year. This will be the seventh award, and for the first time the winner finished first in both the football league and the scholastic competition. The previous winners have been:

1933 Northern High School 1932 Hamtramck High School 1931 Southwestern High School 1930 Central High School 1989 Northwestern High School 1928 Northwestern High School

The presentation of the cup will take place at a banquet given by the Detroit Association in April.

There are one hundred and fifty-four names in the present directory of the Dartmouth Club of Detroit, of whom eighty-seven are graduates, forty-six dues-paying members, and forty-five contributors to the Alumni Fund. Fifty weekly luncheons were held last year. Fifteen members attended at least half of those luncheons. The following weekly attendance list is a testimonial to those men who have made the Dartmouth.

Football Meeting

On Friday, February 23, Earl Blaik was the guest of the Dartmouth group. A small informal dinner was held at the Detroit Boat Club with thirty Dartmouth men in attendance. Mr. Whelden in introducing Mr. Blaik told him that he was not in Detroit to sell himself, that he had been taken in by the Club from the moment the papers had announced his appointment, and that the Detroit Association welcomed him into the Dartmouth fellowship and the Dart- mouth spirit. At the conclusion of our guest's talk to us he was being hailed on all sides as Earl and "Red," and the Club wishes to go on record as asserting that the College is extremely fortunate in having added such a man to its staff. Win or lose, mouth Club the most active college club in Detroit.

The annual summer outing was held with the Cornell Club of Detroit last July. Joint luncheons and meetings were held with the Harvard, Yale, Cornell, and Princeton Associations at the time of the annual football games.
