At the time of writing this letter the School is taking a well-earned vacation from the rigors of an engineering education, and the town of Hanover is quiet and peaceful. So is the news business, as this letter will show.

One of the largest jobs which has been tackled at the School this year is the organization and classification according to the Dewey system of the books in the various libraries of the School. When this has been done the books in the Baker Library and the Thayer Library dealing with engineering subjects will be cross-indexed, and it will then be possible to tell what books and papers are available and where they may be found. In addition to this work, which is progressing rapidly, General Thayer's books have been collected and placed in the alcove of the Thayer Library. This is a very fine engineering collection and contains many valuable editions.

The March issue of Civil Engineering contained the announcement of the appointment of Thorndike Saville '15 as secretary of the Joint Committee on Water Pollution under the sponsorship of the American Society of Civil Engineers and of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Gordon Granger '31 writes from his home in New Rochelle, N. Y„ that he is now working for the Wickwire Spencer Steel Company.

At a special meeting of the Thayer Society in New York last month, the members of the executive committee and advisory board of the Society were all elected to serve another term, so that the personnel of these bodies remains as shown in the 1933-34 bulletin. Wo.rd received from Al Richmond '15 intimates that the Robert Fletcher Fund Campaign is about to get under way, and by the time this appears in print you will doubtless have received first-hand news of the fact.

In addition to the work in the library mentioned above, the hydraulics, electricity, and materials laboratories have all been drastically rearranged, and the new soil mechanics laboratory is practically complete. The basement has had a coat of very white paint, making it a pleasant place to work, and the inspection of the building by any alumni who can get to Hanover is invited and recommended.
