This year's freshman class numbers 655 men, or 52 less than last year's record-breaking class, it was announced by Robert C. Strong '24, dean of freshmen and director of admissions, at the first faculty meeting on September 23. Although this year's application list was considerably larger than that of last year, the entering class was limited to approximately 650 men, at the wish of the Trustees, faculty, and numerous alumni.
The total College enrollment for 1935-36 is 2,390, or 20 less than last year. The senior class numbers 532, a loss of one; the junior class 549,°a gain of four; and the sophomore class 654, a gain of 29. The freshman figure includes 11 dropbacks, and the sophomore figure includes three transfers. The sophomore transfers are from Amherst, Stanford, and Yenching University, China.
