Twenty-eight members of the faculty have been named as departmental chairmen by President Hopkins for Dartmouth's 167 th academic year. The appointees and the departments which they will direct were announced as follows:

With the opening of the college year, the chairmen of the three new Divisions of the faculty also assumed their duties. The Divisional heads, who were announced by President Hopkins last spring, are Professor Henry M. Dargan, of the Department of English, chairman of the Division of the Humanities; Professor James P. Richardson, of the Department of Political Science, chairman of the Division of the Social Sciences; and Professor Bancroft H. Brown, of the Department of Mathematics and Astronomy, chairman of the Division of the Sciences. The new Divisional organization was adopted by the faculty last November and will play an important role in the future educational policy of the College.
