Charlie Floyd and his wife came down from their home in Windsor, Vt., and are spending a month in Boston, renewing acquaintance with their old friends. Boston is quite familiar to them, for it was his wife's home before they were married, and after Charlie's appointment to the U. S. Pension Department they resided here for about 20 years prior to his being transferred to Washington, which was their home until his resignation from the department a year and a half ago.
Lorrain Weeks is evidently enjoying his residence in Long Island, so near New York City. Besides keeping up his custom of many years as reporter for the Laconia, N. H., Critic, he is also continuing his study of astronomy with the assistance of Upton's Star Atlas; added to that he is renewing his youth through the study of German and modern Greek. By such studiousness he will arouse the envy of our most diligent classmate, "Fuddy" Plapp.
Life Philbrick is another of our class who is deeply interested in studious lines, having devoted quite a good deal of time to the study of Mexican art, and contemplates writing upon that subject, which may prove a matter of particular interest in connection with the Orozco murals in the Baker Library.
"Deacon" Hulbert, our first class secretary, who lives quietly in St. Paul, Minn., writes that he enjoys excellent health, walking several miles every day. He expresses a fellow sympathy for your Secretary, having suffered in that position himself; but after all, there are many bright spots in a secretary's life.
Sam Hudson, like your secretary, has not "retired," and we are pegging along at our profession here in Boston. By the way, Sam is the only member of our class, and perhaps the only member of the College, who was ever challenged, tofight a duel and accepted it. While that episode occurred during our college course, the story of it, particularly in the inimitable way in which Sam tells it, is very interesting and exciting.
The Secretary confidently hopes to have some news for next month's issue regarding Al Briggs, Charlie Chase, Bourlet, John Cunningham, Harry Parker, and some others, provided, of course, it is sent in to him.
