This year's freshman class numbers 649 men, or six less than last year's, it was announced by Dean Strong at the first faculty meeting on September 21. Although the list of applicants this year was one of the largest in Dartmouth's history, the freshman class was again held down to the approximate figure of 650 which the Board of Trustees recently set as a desirable limit.
The total undergraduate enrollment this year is 2,349, or 33 less than last year, it was disclosed at the meeting by Registrar Conant. The sophomore class, which entered College with 655 members, number 615 men this year. The junior class, which entered College with the record total of 707 members and which numbered 651 men last year, is down to 555 men this year. The senior class numbers 530 men this year, in contrast to 548 last year, 629 for 1934-35, and 670 men when it entered Dartmouth in the fall of 1933.
Seven transfer students are included in the College enrollment this year.
