A FAIR-SIZED group of members of the . Dartmouth Club of Virginia assembled on June 6 at Eastover, one of the old Colonial plantations of Virginia, for an afternoon and evening picnic as the guests of Mr. Albert H. Ochsner, father of Albert J. '35 and Seymour F. '37. All of those present enjoyed a fine swim, Eastover being located on the James River directly opposite the mouth of the Chickahominy, and many of them displayed considerable ability in playing at a number of the old Colonial games, especially bowling on the green. After supper Douglas VanderHoof '01 took up the job of song leader and, probably for the first time in its history, the James River was treated with a score of Dartmouth harmonies. Those present included, besides Dr. VanderHoof, Mr. Ochsner and his son, Albert, H. Richard Messer '05, C. G. Milham '06, Robert Munson '14, Paul S. Gibson '15, Fred M. Richie '16, Lawrence Lockwood '17, Charles F. Weston '18, Lt. Thomas C. Colt Jr. '26, William H.. King '33, Morgan Reynolds '33, and Andy Gustafson of the Dartmouth football staff.
