June 1936

A summary of the 1936 Alumni Fund through May 18 disclosed that a gain of 1713.31, or 2 per cent, had been registered in the amount contributed, while the number of contributors had decreased by 86, or 4.5 per cent, in comparison with a similar period last year.

The Fund Committee has received a total of 513 increased gifts, new gifts, and gifts after non-contributing lapses, showing a net gain of approximately $3,000 in this phase of the campaign. These 513 gifts offset decreases in the amounts contributed in 109 cases.

Among the leading classes, 1887 has advanced from 27th place to among the first ten, for the most noteworthy gain of the period. Edward W. Knight 'B7 is agent of the class. The Classes of 1879 and 1911 are far and away the big money groups, while 1876, under Dr. Henry H. Piper, has worked up next to 1879 for a remarkable showing in its sixtieth reunion year. Among the younger classes, 1928 and 1936 are the only representatives among the leaders. The Classes of 1913 and 1916 represent those of the last twenty years in creditable positions.
