Of the thirty-one who have answered the call for the "Ad Interim Reunion" to be held in Hanover June 11-14, fifteen will be there, six expect to go, two are still in doubt, and eight will not be present. So far so good. The call is still out, but the deadline is not far off. Better join up.
Alvah Sleeper spent the month of February in Florida and did not return in time for the March round-up. It was the first one he has missed.
Benezet is a grandfather. Ann Butter- field arrived September 17, 1936. Three visits to this new arrival have convinced Benny that she is wonderful.
At the 39th annual meeting of the At- lantic Whist Association held at the Knickerbocker Whist Club January 20 to 23, James P. Richardson, vice-president, had the top score Thursday evening, January 21, also the cumulative high score for the day, and won the New England trophy. In the contest for the Faber trophy on Friday evening he finished second. He was also second in the contest for the Atlantic trophy held in two sessions Saturday afternoon and evening. He won this trophy in the two preceding years. He was elected president of the association at the last meeting Saturday evening.
Jim is a member of a very unique organization called the S. S. W. C. (Select Society of Whist Cranks), which was organized in 1894 and has always maintained a membership limited to thirteen, after the number in a single suit in a deck of playing cards. Eberhard Faber gave a dinner for members of this society at the Metropolitan Club, New York City, Friday evening, January 22. Eleven of the thirteen members were present.
An "Algebra for College Students," written by Tony Willard (professor of mathematics and astronomy at University of Maine) and Noah R. Bryan (associate professor of mathematics at the same), has been published by Scott, Foresman, & Co., Chicago and New York.
Hale and Mrs. Dearborn are on a three weeks' visit at Miami, Fla. (Jan. 21-Feb. 11). An examination of the records shows this to be the first vacation Hale has taken in 38 years, and hence would seem to be real news.
