Mr. and Mrs. William J. Witte of Yonkers, N. Y., sailed recently on the Aquitania on a cruise to South America, and expect to return about April first. They will touch at Nassau, Panama, Venezuela, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and other ports.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hoyt are spending some weeks in the Southland, where they are planning to see the Mardi Gras in New Orleans and other historical places in the South.

Recently the Secretary dropped in on E. M. Gleason at Ayer. One can almost tell the quality of leadership as soon as one enters the high school building. There was a studious, quiet atmosphere in the school which spoke well for the man who has headed the school for a quarter of a century. I found Gleason in his usual good health and cheerful spirits.

"Billy" Williams retains the dew of his youth in a remarkable way, and I think one reason is that he takes a vacation every fall and goes up in the Maine or New Brunswick woods and goes native for a few weeks. This fall he went to the deep woods of New Brunswick and shot a splendid bull moose, which he brought back to Milford on his trailer. I wish '98 could have assembled and joined our friend "Billy" in a moose steak banquet.

Israel Aubey and wife have spent a quiet but busy winter in their very attractive home in Framingham Center, where our classmate has charge of 13 metropolitan reservoirs. They are having a wonderful time watching the unfolding powers of their little grandson, who lives with his parents in West Brookfield but is a frequent visitor with the grandparents.

Dr. Franklin White, a distinguished physician in Boston, told me recently that our classmate Harry Goodall was greatly missed.

If anyone has some good ideas for our 40th Reunion coming next year, I hope he will send them in to our good president Fritz Robbert or to the Secretary.

I heard a rumor recently that Pope may move back to New England. Certainly the New England '98ers will be glad of such a move.

Secretary, 57 Grove Hill Ave., Newtonville, Mass.
