An oil portrait of Richard Hovey, Dartmouth's poet laureate, has been presented to the College by Psi Upsilon fraternity. Painted by George A. Thompson in Paris about 1892, when the artist and Hovey met abroad, the portrait was presented to President Hopkins through Sydney E. Junkins '87 of Hanover.

The oil painting has been hung in Thayer Hall, near the murals which Walter B. Humphrey 'l4 is painting to depict Hovey's famous song, Eleazar Wheelock.
