THE 1938-1939 SEASON was officially opened Sunday afternoon, October 9, with a smoker at the cabin at Groton. Clarence G. McDavitt '00 was the speaker of the occasion and gave a most interesting account of his North Cape Cruise, social conditions in Sweden and impressions of his visit to Leningrad and Moscow.

The annual Harvard-Dartmouth Game Dance was one of the most successful on record. Sixty couples and sundry stags were on hand at the Odd Fellow's Hall in Groton and celebrated the Dartmouth victory in rousing fashion. Thanks and congratulations to Bill Callihan '34 and to Johnny Boermeester '31 for their masterful supervision of the affair. At long last!—the Cabin has a radio, funds for the purchase being raised by raffling off two tickets to the Harvard-Dartmouth game. A goodly crowd turned out to hear the Yale Game broadcast, Doc Waters '30 acting as host and presiding at the dials.

Plans are under way for a bigger—and better than ever—"in-town" meeting at the University Club in December or January. An interesting program of speeches and other entertainment is being arranged. Meanwhile informal get-togethers are held almost every Sunday afternoon at the Cabin and alumni in the Boston area are cordially invited to come out and join in the fun.
