December 1938

THE FOURTH edition of the pictorial calendar Dartmouth in Portrait will appear this month under the new auspices of Dartmouth College Publications. According to the new arrangements, which were agreed upon in principle at the time of the establishment of the calendar by Jack Sheffield '37, profits from the sale of the 1939 Dartmouth in Portrait will go to the Alumni Fund. Mr. Sheffield has been retained by Dartmouth College Publications as graduate manager of the calendar, and Lawrence A. Cate '40 of Reading, Mass., has been assigned the position of undergraduate editor.

As in past editions, the 1939 calendar will present twelve striking views of Dartmouth, each seasonally appropriate to the month which it illustrates. The frontispiece this year will be a new photographic study of President Hopkins made just recently by Lester K. Henderson. In addition to the calendar for the year, Dartmouth inPortrait will contain a schedule of College events, including football and other athletic contests, insofar as they are known at the present time. Both photographically and in completeness the new edition of the Dartmouth calendar is expected to be the most attractive yet published. It will contain a decorative cover and will have a spiral binding with provision for hanging the calendar on the wall.

The 1939 edition of Dartmouth in Portrait is being issued in time to be used by alumni as Christmas gifts. A limited number will be printed and will be available at $1.OO per copy through Dartmouth in Portrait, Hanover, N. H.
