The Department of Mathematics is very anxious to assemble a complete file of examination question papers for the annual Thayer Mathematical Prize Examinations, which were first held in 1870. If any member of the alumni has a copy of the examination for any one of the years listed below, the Department would like to have either the copy itself or a photostatic copy of it. Communications with regard to this matter would be gratefully received by the Secretary of the Department, Robin Robinson '24.
The years not represented in the Department's present file are 1871, 1873-81, 1883-95, 1897-98, 1904, 1910, 1918, each date representing the spring in which the examination was given.
The Department has a complete list of the prize-winners, but would be glad of any other information with regard to the examinations or the method of conducting them. In particular, the Department would like to know if the "Prize Problems" given in the 1870's were connected in any way with the Thayer Prize competition. The Department has copies, of these problems for 1867-69, 1876, 1878.
