LAST MONTH the Club held a roller skating party at the Tech rink. About 15 couples tried their luck at this new type of Outing Club activity with varying degrees of success. Si Chandler, Doc Waters, and Jack Crawford were more or less expert, while Paul Guibord had little trouble with the elusive wheels on account of his recent experience with the Boston Olympics hockey club. Jack Hubbell of mattress fame might have done better if he could have kept his feet going in one direction. Other experts included Chuck Sutton, Ed Marshall, Frank Ryder, Frank Wardwell and Johnnie Boermeester.
On December 19, a Christmas party was held at the cabin. Bill Callihan arranged a treasure hunt that included about two miles of cross-country work and left the participants ready to gather around the fire for songs and refreshments. Johnnie Boermeester was first under the wire in the treasure hunt followed closely by Chuck Sutton and hill-and-daler Bill Fletcher. There was a Santa Claus and a gift for everyone present. This party marked the first use of the new electric lights which were installed in the cabin recently. Most of the work, including the stringing of 1000 feet of wire from the road, was done by the members and the installation has already added much to the utility of the cabin.
A smoke talk at the cabin is planned for early February with Ross McKenney as speaker. There will also be a week-end set aside for ski instruction and general skiing on the new slope which has been cut on our own property.
