IN HIS FIRST try at deep-sea fishing President Hopkins landed a 6 foot 9½, inch sailfish off Palm Beach during the Christmas holidays. The catch, weighing 45 pounds, was made while Dartmouth's vacationing leader was the guest of Dr. Frank L. Boyden, headmaster of Deerfield Academy, who was also spending the holidays at Palm Beach and who extended the hospitality of his motor launch and captain to President Hopkins.
President and Mrs. Hopkins are residing in Palm Beach at the Vineta Hotel, which is managed by Chester A. Wescott '14. After spending a few days earlier in December at Pinehurst, N. C., they went to Petersburg, Va., where they were the Christmas week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Miller at their home, Mt. Erin. Plans for the remainder of the President's leave of absence, urged upon him this year by the Board of Trustees, are indefinite; but it is expected that he and Mrs. Hopkins will extend their stay at Palm Beach before going to Arizona, which was originally announced as the President's January destination.
