Charlie Floyd called on the Secretary recently and reported that his wife had had a serious cold, narrowly escaping double pneumonia. We are glad, however, that she is now convalescing satisfactorily.
Will Newton '86, in line with his lively perennial interest in our college, recently sponsored a meeting of a group of alumni at the University Club here in Boston. Among the matters discussed were a more general and distinctive recognition at Commencement of the class celebrating the 50th anniversary of its graduation and of other reunion classes, the Orozco and the Eleazar Wheelock murals, and some suggestions for cooling the temperature of the gymnasium hall during Commencement alumni luncheon exercises; these sub jects aroused healthful discussion which may lead to desirable results.
The feature of tribute to the memory of our beloved President, Dr. Tucker, which appeared in the April issue of the MAGAZINE must have been welcome by all lovers of our college. Dr. Tucker's term of service inaugurated a liberalizing revival of our college which has been greatly expanded and increased by his devoted successor, President Hopkins; the history of our college may be briefly and truly epitomized as founded by Eleazar Wheelock, refounded by Daniel Webster, revitalized by President Tucker, and expanded by President Hopkins.
