ALL DARTMOUTH MEN hereabout are going around town with a very selfsatisfied smile these spring days. This is caused by the fact that our annual dance held on Saturday, April Ist, at the University Club turned out to be the most enjoyable and successful in the history of the club. Over five hundred and fifty alumni, undergraduates and their friends turned out to make this a banner evening for Dartmouth in Cleveland. Much deserved praise is being given to chairman Jack Gilchrist '35 and his committee consisting of Wally Mountcastle '22, Bill Burford '36, Herb Moatz '33 and Dan Swander '35. The decorations, large silhouettes in green and white of scenes on the campus, were done by the thirteen year old son of committeeman Mountcastle. Several very fine photographic enlargements by Chuck Wycoff '37 were used in the smaller rooms.
A little farther back in history, and an enjoyable event for Dartmouth men, was the annual banquet held on Thursday, February 23rd. Sid Hayward came on as the representative of the college and gave us a fine picture of events taking place in Hanover during recent months. We all hope that Sid will return to Cleveland in the near future.
Our weekly luncheons at the Mid-Day club continue to attract large crowds. Several movies have been shown in recent weeks and Nels Newcomb '24, pres. has introduced a raffle which carries over from week to week with the winner each week furnishing a prize for the next. This idea is especially popular with our president himself who seems to be winning more than his share of the prizes.
Several new faces have been seen at recent meetings. Among these are Ed Eldridge '33 who has returned to the fold from his wanderings up around Detroit and Ernie Moore '31 who suddenly moved in at the University Club one day and announced that he would be from that day on a paid up member of the club. Bob Hosmer '32, our roving insurance man, continues to drop in on meetings from time to time.
Ray Barker '23 has just returned from a three weeks' vacation in Bermuda. One look at his tan reminds us that summer with its picnics and golf party is just around the corner.
