CROWDING A SHORT VACATION into a very busy summer, and returning to even more activity afterwards, makes it very difficult for us to concentrate on the doings of the various Dartmouth men we contacted this summer, and, hastily scanning our notes, we find that several events of interest have taken place since our last contribution to this column.

Three weddings of interest can be reported, including that of Frank Davenport to Miss Suzanna Black, and also of his brother, Haskell Davenport, to Miss Doris Herre. These two weddings took place within recent weeks. Both of the brides are Harrisburg girls.

The third wedding was learned of through a chance meeting with Lee Eckles during our vacation at Virginia Beach. Lee and his bride were spending their honeymoon at the Cavalier Hotel there, and we met while dancing at the Cavalier Beach Club. We are sorry to inform you that we did not learn Mrs. Eckles' maiden name, but we can say that she was very charming. Lee is now practicing law in Pittsburgh, and, although he has left our immediate circle, we still count him a member of the Central Pennsylvania Club.

John Wadham, a past president, reports a very interesting Carribean cruise, but refuses to give details. John is still a bachelor, and he just won't talk.

Our president, "Van" Van Riper, has been really too busy opening "Dream Highways" to get a fall program started, but your correspondent has been receiving many phone calls relative to the activities of the club for the coming winter season. We are quite sure that several events of interest and importance will be arranged within the next month.

The regular luncheon meetings, held each Monday, have already been arranged, and the Dartmouth Club of Central Pennsylvania seems to have gotten off on the "right foot" for the 1940-41 season.
