THE ACTIVITIES OF OUR group were rather subdued over the summer, although we managed to squeeze in a swell picnic on Bauscher's farm near Hamburg, thanks to the generosity of Lee '21 and Mrs. Bausher. Quite a badminton and baseball game developed during the course of the afternoon. The ladies certainly showed us how to play ball, although the heaviest hitter on either side turned out to be "Red" Heath '38. When "Red" bore down on the ball it really traveled.
After the ball game, several of the boys took a quick dip in the pool, and then all of us sat down to a grand chicken dinner. We believe everyone will agree there is no better refreshment on a picnic than a chicken dinner.
The point at which we were to run off a few reels of movies finally arrived. Andy Marshall '22 projected some colored film which he took during the secretaries' meeting this summer; the high spot being a shot of your scribe walking around in circles.
A reel from Hanover picturing the outstanding football plays during last season proved very interesting to the gals. However, the peak of the evening was attained during the next reel on winter sports. The days of silent movies in the Nugget came back to life when everyone tried to tell a skier in the movie how to turn to avoid hitting a large fly which persisted in keeping just in front of him. More fun!!
The picnic was attended by our hosts Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bausher '21 Andy and Mrs. Marshall '22, Bob and Mrs. Simonds '25, Al and Mrs. Thurn '25, Milt and Mrs.
