THE DARTMOUTH OUTING CLUB of Northern California, although not actually at work on the cabin at the Donner Summit property in the Sierra Nevada, is far from dormant. We have money in the bank—in fact have been putting some in about once a week now since the Amherst game. Our bills are all paid, including the County Taxes on the property for 1941-42 —51.75; and we are signing up new members.
You might not believe that a restaurant waiters' strike would have anything to do with an Outing Club Cabin that doesn't exist. But that is one rather definite reason why the cabin is not under construction at present. During the summer, when there might well have been opportunity to go to work we didn't meet for our weekly Monday luncheon for several weeks, and so the plans that were about to hatch just had to be abandoned.
Now we don't know at what moment several of our eligible young bachelors will be called into the service, or when there will be time and material for such things as Outing Club cabins. So we are holding our plans for building in abeyance until more propitious times and keeping up the interest in other ways.
