On September 3, 1885 the Class of '89 entered College. Four weeks later the "Annual Field Meeting of the Athletic Association" was held on and around the Campus. Five gold medals for lowering previous Dartmouth records were awarded, three of them to Freshmen. One of the three came to Noyes, winner of the bicycle race.
On November 19, 1940 another record for '89 was made. A Brockton (Massachusetts) paper of that date headed a column "Genial Dr. Noyes Rounds out Half Century as Physician." "A broken leg changed his career." "Has fine record in three county towns."
Six others of our class became physicians but in length of service Nat has a long lead The broken leg came in a baseball game in May 1886. On recovery Nat entered Dartmouth Medical College and received his degree in 1889. After a year's internship he began practice in Hanover, Massachusetts. Two years later he went to Duxbury and in 1930 moved to Plymouth His career as a successful physician and an active public-spirited citizen deserves, far more space than is permitted by our wise but firm editor.
