At the joint dinner of 'l6, 'l7, and 'lB in February, the big flu epidemic cut our ranks in half, but Tom Cotton, George Currier, Arch Earle, Summy Emerson, Bunny Holden, JLen Reade, Sam Saline and Towler were apparently enjoying very good health and much conversation at the N. Y. Dartmouth Club. Parker Melvin joined your pencil pusher for lunch that day, dropped into the Club for a quickie at five, but had to skip out to a banquet.
Fat Spears, Director of Athletics, Toledo U., blew into N. Y. on March sth with his basketball team, and joined Don Brooks and yours truly for lunch at the D. Club, our first reunion in 24 years. If that tiny dynamo has changed one iota in looks, spirits or cunning, it will take more than your new bifocals to find the difference. Cap says their daughter Janet is a soph at Ohio State, Joan is a freshman at Toledo H. S. and Bob is in 6th grade. Fat saw Baldy Trier in Chicago recently, gave a good report on the jovial Swift executive who has charge of the Arnold Packing end of the business. Fat says he will definitely be with us at our 25th, fourteen months hence.
It was a real satisfaction to catch up with Ralph and Evelyn Britton for an evening in February, down in Washing- ton. They have recently bought a new home in a woodsy section of Georgetown, at 6019 Wynnwood Rd., Wood Acres. Ralph is doing engineering supervisory work in the Technical Division, F.H.A.. K. St. and Vt. Ave. The next morning when we 'phoned Monk Wells' home it was a cold, raw day, but Mrs. Wells reported her hubby was on the links bright and early as usual, so we missed the leather expert. There are 15 of you 'lyers at the Capitol and the two gents aforementioned are going to round you up for a dinner soon, so give the boys a lift? Dick Marschat just moved to the Maury Apts., igth and G, N.W., has been retained on personnel work in the Office of the Quartermaster General, U. S. Army.. .. .Hal Ingersoll, let's hear what you're up to; just received word of your new home address, 309 N. Thomas St., Arlington, Va.
LET'S CELEBRATE!
Dick Holbrook has been appointed by Gov. Blood a member of the New Hampshire State Planning Commission for a five year term. Our leader in flood control work, Vice President of the Holbrook Grocery Cos., has the proud record of achieving tax reductions in each of the three years he has been Mayor of Keene.
Ralph Sanborn's pictures of the D.O.C. House and the Gym adorned the covers of the Feb. and March isues of this MAGAZINE. Had a great letter from Sunny from Hanover at Carnival time, swearing at the moldy weather and dirty snow, says he spent the time playing squash, skating and chewing the fat, had seen Soup Campbell and Charley Stone, Senator Gile being at Concord; the Carnival judges were right on the job when they picked Miss Joan Walters Queen.
Old Doc Baxter was reappointed Medical Examiner for southeastern Mass. by Gov. Saltonstall.
Harry Worthington is in charge of sales, Manning, Maxwell and Moore Cos., Crysler Bldg., N. Y. He is parking at 33 E. 39th St., until Mrs. W. and the six children move east from Oak Park, after school is out. Mary is 18, Betty 17, Bud (H. T. Jr.) is 16, Bill 14, John 11, and Joe 7. That ties the Stockwells!
George Currier didn't last long as Father Of Seventeen's Youngest Baby. Congratulations to the Heinie Wrights on Judith Miller Wright, born February 6, 1941 •
A 1 Shiels of Los Angeles wrote Jan. 30th: "The administration made things difficult last year. However, 1941 has opened up much better and I feel quite encouraged. I envied you all at Bob Scott's party and the different games. My nose has been to the grindstone so much, I have seen few of our gang. However, as soon as the Alumni Fund starts, if Art can still bear with me, I expect to contact them and will get some news on the boys." As we look over last year's Alumni Fund results, let's give a cheer for all the time and effort put into the job by the whole Mac Intyre team, and see if what A 1 Shiels says about a better 1941 can be echoed all around?
