WE KNOW BOSTON IS NO EXCEPTION in its feeling of the effects of the national emergency, and in the whole-hearted response its citizens are making to the new calls upon their time, their energies, and their resourcefulness.
The Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston is justly proud of the part its members are taking in the effort. It is not necessary to list the Dartmouth men doing their part, for they all are giving in every way they can as are all good Americans! We know, however, that all Boston alumni will be interested to hear that our president, Arthur T. Soule '08, has been serving as Lieutenant-Colonel in the Adjutant General's Department since early July. We all recall the outstanding work President Soule did in helping to establish the War Service Advisory Bureau for college alumni living in New England, and extend to him best wishes in his new service.
Many Dartmouth men will feel keenly the loss of Charles R. Main '06, who passed away at his home in Winchester on August 22nd. Mr. Main's interest in Dartmouth slackened, despite the demands of his business and of his active participation in engineering and educational circles and in civic affairs. His passing leaves a large void in many worthwhile endeavors, and a sad throb in the hearts of his many friends.
Through the summer months the Association has not been formally active, but with Labor Day now past we are once more looking forward to the pleasures of the meetings of Dartmouth men. Announcements of dates and speakers will follow as soon as possible.
