As this issue goes to press, "perishable" news is distinctly lacking, the October 8 Washington class dinner having been post- poned to sometime in November (due to a conflict with Dartmouth Night) and the big doings in and around Cambridge the week-end of October 17 looming up on the horizon a week ahead. The '2l mailbag, however, yields a generous crop of letters, clippings, postals, etc... . Number one item is the marriage of Lt. Col. Warren S. (Red) Ege on September 1 to Mrs. Martha Knox Butler, daughter of Federal Judge and Mrs. John C. Knox of New York. The ceremony was performed in the Central Presbyterian Church, Manhattan. The bride, the widow of Kevin Butler of St. Paul, who died in 1938, was graduated from the Lincoln School of Teachers Col- lege, Columbia University, and from Sarah Lawrence College.. . . Bob Elsasser is V.P. of Pendleton Shipyards Cos., Masonic Tem- ple Bldg., New Orleans, according to a re- liable report reaching this operative... . Last February, when the Blue Network separated from NBC, Doug Storer was asked to organize a Commercial Program Department for the new organization. Hav- ing completed this assignment, he has re- turned to his own business on a full-time basis. In making the announcement, Ad-vertising Age (September 7) said that Doug represents Bob Ripley, Dale Carnegie, Mrs. J. Borden Harriman, and produces SwapNite, The Timid Soul, Cab Calloway'sQuizzicale, and other radio shows.

Kemp Fuller and Rog Wilde have been among recent visitors to Washington. We had a little visit with Kemp and talked at length with Rog over the telephone. Kemp is serving on the Research and Conserva- tion Advisory Committee to the Iron and Steel Branch of WPB, commuting from Pittsburgh to Washington for meetings several times each month. We hope to see more of him in the future, and the same goes for you other birds who journey to Washington on either business or pleas- ure Bill Marcy has been commis- sioned a Captain in the Army Air Corps and is being "indoctrinized" at Miami, later to be stationed at Wright Field, Day- ton, in connection with legal matters

Don Mix has been loaned by State Mutual Life for 90 days to the Treasury Dept., as special consultant for Worcester County in a new payroll-deduction-plan drive for War Savings Bonds Harry Trull is with Prentice-Hall in the Boston office, 150 Congress St Both Dan Rug- gles and Hoy Schulting have sons in the freshman class this year, Daniel B. Ruggles, 111 and Herman W. Schulting, 111 Abe Weld writes a very interesting letter from Palmer, Mass., where he has become con- nected with White Aircraft Corp. Appar- ently this is a new organization formed to execute Government contracts, as Abe says "here I am, with another pioneer job on my hands and 24 hours per day to work in. I'm Comptroller, with the whole job to set up." Abe's letter gives the impression that the Palmer housing situation is about as acute as in the Nation's Capital Dick Barnes is doing sales engineering for Dravo Corp., Pittsburgh, working on industrial direct-fired heaters. During the summer moved his family to the Smoky City and they are now residing at 36 Highland Ave., Crafton, Pittsburgh, Pa Gos Halsey has a new street address in Peekskill, N. Y., on Oakridge Parkway; no house number given A 1 Laffey, whose new business connection was reported in last month's Notes, kicks through with his home ad- dress, 20626 Greenwood Drive, Olympia Fields, 111 Dud Robinson says he's liv- ing in Litchfield, Conn.

Ray Mallary, the Springfield News in- forms us, has been elected a member of the board of directors and executive committee of the Union Trust Cos. "Fat" is described in the clipping, now several months old, as a lawyer who is chairman of the USO in Springfield and "long active in civic af- fairs." With the write-up is a splendid .Dhotograph of Ray, known nowadays as R. DeWitt Mallary Frank Lambert's address is 111 Depew Ave., Buffalo, N. Y. .... With the war effort in Washington swinging into an ever-increasing tempo, your reporter finds it correspondingly more difficult to squeeze out time necessary for writing to classmates. Your letters ad- dressed to Rockville, therefore, will hence- forth be received with even more gratitude than in the past, if such a thing is possible. Need we say more?
