With 87 classmates in uniform now, our Service roster will have well over 100 names on it before the end of the year. In the past month alone there have been 17 additions.

Of the 51 men in the Army, 30 hold commissions, as follows: 1 Lt. Col.; 2 Majors; 12 Captains; 12 Lt.; 3 2nd Lt. Of the 36 men in the Navy, 33 hold commissions: 2 Lt. Comdr.; 21 Lt.; 9 Lt. (jg); 1 Ensign. Fifty five of the 87 in the Service are mar- ried, 4 divorced and 28 single.

The Class acquired two Majors within a week. Curly Prosser was promoted on Sept. 29 and continues to divide his time between Washington and Texas for the Services of Supply.

Major Jerry Pitts was commissioned Oc- tober 2 and left four days later for a month's training at the Army Exchange School at Princeton. On his return to New York he will be Assistant Director, Purchas- ing Division, Army Exchange Service. If your post exchange doesn't have what you want, write and tell Jerry!

Capt. Milt Hoefle is in the Army Medical Corps. Peggy and their son are living in Brooklyn, N. Y.

Dr. Jerry Cetrulo of Newark, N. J., has just gone in the Army Air Corps, presum- ably as a Lieutenant.

Lt. Hank Leach reported to the Officers' Training School at Miami Beach on Octo- ber 1, and about November 15 will pro- ceed to the Fighter Command School, Or- lando, Florida.

John Lawrence joined the Army Signal Corps recently as a Lieutenant. He was with the N. E. Tel. & Tel. in Providence.

Ken Turner, Personnel Manager of Mc- Creery's in New York, was drafted October 3—he has been married a year and a half.

Dr. Harry Bennert of Manchester, N. H., is a Captain in the Army Medical Corps.

Horace ("Pete") Bennett is a Captain in the Army Chemical Warfare Service. He has been with the N. J. Bell Tel. in East Orange.

George Davis is a Captain in the Army Services of Supply. He has been Treasurer of the Glens Falls Insurance Cos.

Don Chapman, merchandise manager of the Sears Roebuck store in Honolulu, is now a private "Sink" Sinclair of Steubenville, 0., is a private in the Air Corps.

NAVY NEWS

Among the 969 graduates of the first in- doctrination session of the Naval Training School at Dartmouth was Lt. Jack Cook, who sat again in Webster Hall as he did almost 15 years ago. His picture appeared on page 17 of the October MAGAZINE. Lt. Dick Frame entered with the second class on September 17, graduates early in No- vember and then goes to Pensacola.

Willis Mitchell of Phillipsburg, N. J., received his lieutenant's commission in the USNR Medical Corps August 16, is now stationed at the Navy Recruiting Office, Wilmington, Delaware.

Lt. (jg) Dick Wallis is at the Naval Training Station, Bainbridge, Md. He and his wife are living at 3rd & Market Streets. Oxford, Pa.

George Boughton, owner of the Colony Hotel at Delray Beach, Florida, has re- ceived a USNR commission as a Lt. in the Supply Corps.

Horace Brown, shovel manufacturer of N. Easton, Mass., is now a Lt. (jg) in the USNR.

Red Jenkins is also a Lt. (jg), in the Deck Volunteers section. He has been with N. J. Bell Tel. in Jersey City.

Lt. Jack McLaughlin, now training at Norfolk, will soon be assigned to a carrier.

Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Marshall of South Orange, N. J., have announced the mar- riage of their daughter, Mrs. Anne M. Rice, to Lt. John Joseph Cronin Jr., USNR, on September 27 at the Naval Air Station, Miami. The bride attended Miss Beard's School and the Bennett School and was for- merly president of the Junior League of South Orange. Her marriage to J. K. Rice Jr. ended in divorce. John and his bride have gone to the Naval Air Station at Key West, where he is stationed.

Capt. Rocky Keith is in Ireland—has a new ad- dress: A.P.O. 871, Postmaster, New York City. . . . . Lt. Walt McKee flew in September to England where he is in Army Intelligence work. His address is A.P.O. 887, Postmaster, Brooklyn, N. Y. Lt. Cal Billings and wife have moved to Coffey- ville, Kansas, where Cal is Special Service Officer at the Army flying field there—his job covers a bit of everything on the recreation side.

Irv Beebe wanted to do something more impor- tant to the war effort than sell advertising for the Miami Daily News. He was turned down by the Navy and the Army because of one poor eye. He looked up Ham Hankins, Assistant Operations Man- ager of Pan American Air Ferries, and strange as it may seem, Ham had an opening, and that is where Beebe is now. Beebe says the nature of his work is a military secret, but that it is very exciting.

DARTMOUTH NIGHT

Five '2Bers attended the Dartmouth Night dinner at the Mayflower in Washington October 8: Mai Halliday of NLRB; Vic Hartjens of WPB; Capt. Bob Maclellan of the Army's Finance Division; Major Curly Prosser, and Jerry Warner of the State Department, just back from Ja.pan and not yet re- stored to his normal weight. Vic Hartjens has been appointed Chairman of the '2B Dinner Committee to arrange '2B dinners at regular intervals. His ad- dress is 604 Dale Drive, Silver Spring, Md.

Latest arrivals in Washington are Hammie Ham- mesfahr, Assistant to the Vice Chairman of the National War Labor Board, Jack Kenerson (what are you doing, Jack?), and Paul Kruming, radio division of the Office of the Coordinator of Inter- American Affairs.

Fourteen attended the '2B dinner at the Dart- mouth Club of New York, September 28: Warren Burding, formerly of Philadelphia and now Sales Manager of the Grocery Division of Standard Brands; Howie Bush, father of a two months old girl; Bill Cogswell, Ham Hagar; Bill Heep; Court Keller, Art Kneerim, Paul Kruming, Lt. John Law- rence, Bruce Lewis, Barney Nova, John Phillips, Bill Treanor and Bud Weser, who expected to be drafted within a couple weeks.

Sam Magavern became a father for the fourth time two months ago.

Gaylord Fauntleroy, in answer to the query in last month's notes, says he is not in the regular Army, but is a Lt. in the Texas Defense Guard. After working all day as Factory Manager of the Gaylord Container Corp. in Houston, spending three nights a week with the Guard is no picnic.
