Only one wedding to report this month, but two blessed events have come to our notice, as well as several military items.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick R. Williams announce the marriage of their daughter Audrey Elizabeth to Mr. Roger Heyward Hildreth on Thursday, the fifth of February nineteen hundred and forty-two at Trinity Church, Boston, Massachusetts. They are at home after March the first at Five Colson Street, North Billerica, Mass.
Harry Vibbard Fenton was born at the Georgetown University Hospital, February 7th. We'll bet that daddy Bill Fenton has a complete Seneca Indian outfit, including a tepee, for the young papoose, who will know a lot more than "Wah-Hoo- Wah" in Indian language before he grows up.
Gene and Cornelia Zagat announce the birth of Cornelia Ann Zagat on February 25, at the New York Hospital. Gene says, "We're hoping that Dartmouth Carnival will resume in time for the youngest Zagat, and that she will meet some of the second generation of Thirtymen there."
Just after last month's column had gone to the printers, Al Dickerson received a postcard from Frank McLaughlin, dated and censored at Hilo, Hawaii. It confirmed our previous report, advising that he and his family were well, safe and confident. "We are living normally under martial law (no firewater though) and working hard by daylight. We have built a shelter or annex to our house." Al had to send us a copy of the card, as Max Norton had snitched the original for his stamp collection.
In case you didn't read it in the Thayer School news items last month, it is worth repeating here that Shaw Cole has been appointed chief engineer of the Pitometer Company, New York.
We bumped into Ed Meyers at the February meeting of the Traffic Club in New York, the first time we had seen him since he left Hanover. Ed is traffic manager for the Picker-Linz Importers, Inc., importers and distributors of wines and liquors.
Charlie Widmayer's gossip division of the Dartmouth News Service sent us a clipping from the Hanover Gazette of February 19, with a bold type heading NEW COUNTY PHYSICIAN. The clipping stated that Dr. William F. Putnam of Lyme had recently been appointed Medical Referee for Grafton County, succeeding Dr. Ralph E. Miller of Hanover. Charlie added that Stan Osgood, of the Navy Ordnance Department, was in Hanover last month for the purpose of interviewing: Dartmouth students for Navy appointments.
Bill Reinhart is now associated with the law firm of Garey, Desvernine & Garey, 65 Wall Street, New York. Bill was formerly associated with Alfred E. Smith Jr., and his receding forelock was rather prominently displayed in the picture of the Dartmouth Lawyer's dinner in the March MAGAZINE.
At the annual meeting of the Capital Savings Bank and Trust Company, Montpelier, Vermont, Bob Ryan was elected to the board of trustees and subsequently to a vice presidency. Since his graduation from Harvard Law school, Bob has been practicing law in Montpelier and has been city attorney there.
It is a little tough on a Secretary to receive a very nice and interesting letter from a classmate and not be able to use all of it in the class notes. First Lieutenant George Kisevalter wrote such a letter, but the nature of some of the contents is such that we cannot repeat it here, as it might be of some aid to our enemies. The policy of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, and rightly, is to refrain from publishing such information. Nevertheless, George wrote in part: "Haven't written you for a long time and found this a good time to do so. I have held a reserve commission of ist Lieut, in the Corps of Engineers for many years and was called to active duty about a year ago. My assignment was with the Engineers of the .... Field Army stationed at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. We trained our men from the first group of selectees last year and underwent further training during the three months Louisiana maneuvers
Upon my return to normal life, will be glad to take care of my class dues, Alumni Fund, etc. Appreciate the ALUMNI MAGAZINE greatly. In the meanwhile, kindly convey my greetings and good wishes to all Thirtymen."
If any of you wish to have George's address, a note to the Secretary will get it for you.
Class reunions will take place this year the week-end of May 15, 16 and 17. There will be an informal reunion at that time for all Thirtymen and their wives who are in Hanover, so if you can or plan to be there, please get in touch with your Secre- tary in order that a few informal arrange- ments can be made for the gathering. We hope to see many of you.
