ON FEBRUARY1 4TH the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston held its annual dinner-meeting at the Copley Plaza Hotel, President Joseph W. Worthen '09 presiding. It was a truly Dartmouth evening, with the Association welcoming as its speakers one of the newest members of the faculty, Prof. John C. Adams of the History Department, and the respected and beloved President Hopkins.

Of Professor Adams it may be said that Princeton's loss is Dartmouth's gain. He gave a most interesting talk, including both the humorous side of a southerner's experiences on moving to Hanover and some serious and instructive comments concerning the backgrounds of the different warring nations. Welcome to Dartmouth, Professor Adams, and may your stay with us be a long one!

Each year it seems as if President Hopkins were in a difficult situation, for his previous talks have established an exceed- ingly high standard of expectancy among the Boston Alumni. Yet it is a fact that each new address arouses within us even greater pride and affection for him. In this time of crisis it is most reassuring to be given a glimpse of his concept of the position of higher liberal education, and Dartmouth, in the world of this year and the years to come,—and to know of the excellent administration bringing these ideals to reality on the campus.

Preceding the introduction of the speakers the Association held its annual business meeting, at which time, in addition to the customary business of electing officers for the coming year, a constitution was proposed by President Worthen—and unanimously adopted (as not read).

Officers elected for the coming year are: President, Arthur T. Soule '08; vice presi-dents, Frederick A. Carroll '09, Chester C. Butts '11, Clarence G. McDavitt '26; secre-tary, Duncan H. Newell Jr. '36; treasurer, Richard D. Muzzy '35; executive commit-tee, Calvin B. Geary '32, James F. Woods '33, Stanley C. Neill '34, Gardner C. Cush- man '35, Duncan H. Newell Jr. '36, John H. Devlin Jr. '37, William Ganter '38, Law- rence P. Pleasants '39, Dwight C. Flanders '40, Clarence E. Higgins Jr. '41.
