Since the last class column—three months ago—Jack Rourke and his NYC nucleus have done a lot of damage: not only have they blasted the class quota Forty ways engineering an unbelievably successful Alumni Fund campaign, but they have also been beating out so many '40 facts on their Indian Drums that this column will have about as many fresh facts as any of Fireside Frank's latest "chats." The marriages and engagements are mostly old stuff by now; but, without dates and places, here they are:

ENGAGED—-Miss Elizabeth Ann Warner, of Shanghai, to Ensign Lee Blades of the Civil Engr. Corps of the Navy; Miss Mary Anderson, of Honolulu and Vassar, to Bill Blake, who is at Harvard Med. School; Mary Lou Eyanson, of W. Hartford and Bennington, to Bob Reid; Janet Felton of Smith College to Seymour Wheelock\ Virginia Tomasson of E. Orange to Bill Mercer, Joan Rice of Mt. Airy, Pa., to Lt. Jim Faulkner of USMC. MARRIED— Elisabeth Cleaves to Nick Turkevich, with BillCleaves as an usher; Edith Goodwin to Fred Miller, with Ken Newbert as best man, and Walt Goodrich as usher; Eddie Miller, of Strawberry Hill, to Patricia Arnold, of Strawberry Hill; Jeanne Yantis to Ray Unangst: Barbara White to De Jones; ClayMacdonald to Patricia Topping; Mary Hitt to BenBryon Helen Riley to Lt. On Saturday night before the 4th of July, Lance Corporal Tom Braden spoke from London over Mutual on a nationwide hookup to give me one of my most thrilling five minutes—he was great! I received word this week from Bab cock and Willson in Palestine, and from ElmerBrowne, who is with the fleet on a supply ship; Dave Boyle writes from England, and Chet Brett gives an unexpurgated account of his part at the time of the Dec. 7th attack on Pearl Harbor.

Among those who sent in contributions to the Alumni Fund were Dick Warner and Jack Emich, as well as the fathers of the following boys who are in parts undisclosed: Bill Webster, Steve Graydon, KimAtkins, and Doc O'Brien. Ensign MannyMansfield writes that he mailed his money in "between ships,' while Bob Williams reports that he gave his to Jack Rourke personally at CBS "between records." JohnCrandell's wife Libby already has a white sweater with green "D" on young Johnnie, while John Case's wife Betsy had to put her "D" sweater on their Sally. Johnny Crandell creates best the word-picture of the month with "Harvey Noll and TexMeyer wandering about New York City in their olive drabs."

Walt Kelley called last week on way to NYC with Navy Ord.; Keith Benson was in Cleveland before his Officer School in Finance at Fort Benjamin Harrison; CalSterling is in Naval Air Corps at Atlanta; Lt. Don Tenney of the Marines is with wife at Miami; Lt. Joe Bird is with his wife Barbara at Pendleton Field, Oregon, where Joe is Base Weather Officer; Ensign SmockThompson is with Bur. Ord. in Torpedo Production work, with Lee Scribner; EdSchecter and Shrub Raymond were '40's in ski-troops at Camp Roberts, Calif.; IverOlson is on the Prairie State-, Ensign SamWilliams graduated last Jan. from the Prairie State with Jack Harley and HerbHeaton, and then went to Deisel Engr. School; Red Herman is with Air Corps at "torpedo junction," N. Carolina; JohnMoore has been map making with Army Engrs. in Oregon.

The long-unaccounted-for Danno Sullivan has left his job as Purchasing Agent for a Cape munitions outfit, and is now a USNR Ensign awaiting orders. TuffyReeves writes that he is about to hit the books again at Officers School at Fort Sill, where Don Fox is also taking Officers' training, and from where Moose Stearns writes that he is instructing. Don Rainie writes of Jim Cooke, and said that Oscar Acer was in Ithaca at a govt, school, while NatSample went to Cornell's Architectural School. Bob Dingwall writes of FreddyEaton, and hopes to get ship duty soon as a deck officer. The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary of Portland, Me., gave Ensign Bill Halsey a testimonial dinner for his work as an instructor.

Bill Harriman is traveling as geologist with Carter Oil; Ronald Woodberry is turning out Liberty ships in N. Carolina yards; Rog Thiele was to open a Howard Johnson's in White Plains July 4th: HerbPorter is in Aircraft Production in San Diego; Harry Midgely, hard-working assistant class agent, reports Cooky Kelley in Navy as a dentist, and Art Pollan back from So. America; Cliff Holmes writes a provocative letter from Indianapolis, where he is in acctg. with RCA; Bill Chapin writes that he has left the Rutland Herald to become Aviation Cadet 11055865, and to sink "into that special type of oblivion set aside for Second Lieutenants"; Ensign Joe Adams at sea reports arrival of JKA 111, who was left behind in Honolulu with wife Joyce; Ferris Campbell writes from Dallas of daughter Beverly who, "although born in Texas, does have a very close connection with Dartmouth, since she got her start there."

NEWSWORTHY: "Dear Scotty—l'm sending along this dispatch in hopes it may prove newsworthy. Kel Doyle and I met at the USO at Fort Dix, and we were sent out here to Fort Bliss in Texas for Military Police Training; evidences of Dartmouth spirit 3000 miles from the home base: latest ALUMNI MAG. on USO library table; Dr. Jenneth, alumnus, on Texas College of Mines faculty here; and Dartmouth harmony by Doyle and Carothers striking discord into the soft Texas twilight. A few days before entering the Army, I was an usher at Pete Basquin's wedding; Dick Mitchell was best man, and Ben Bacon and Kenny Elliott from Har. Bus. School were also ushers. Lt. BobBramley was there on leave from his job as instructor in OCS at Fort Benning, Ga. Doyle reports that Joe Christopher is at OCS at Fort Sill, Okla. Saw George (K-2) Sheldon in New York before coming here; he was a Staff Sergeant in the Provost Marshal's office in NYC. Also saw Bud Hewitt, who was leaving for Fort Jackson to form a new Ordnance Battalion there. I last saw Ted Gates in NYC early in April—he was virtually trapped by his draft board, but was making a last-ditch fight to get into R.A.F.; hay-fever had precluded his acceptance into U. S. Air Corps. Lt. Gardy Friedlander has been in Electronics Training group in London since November, and writes of fascinating experiences there, the latest being a Major's daughter. Best regards, Chal Carothers.

As Fred Porter writes in his Theta Delt news, "If I've called someone a Private who is a Corporal, I'm sorry; but things are moving awfully damn fast." And, as JackLittle says, "It Don't Take Much To Keep In Touch!"
