Air Corps-Non Flying Officers Administrative and Teaching Positions
August 1942

IN MARCH, 1942, THE ARMY AIR CORPS announced an urgent need for several thousand non-flying officers in administrative and teaching positions. Most recent information indicates that the response was so extensive that no more commissions are being presently granted. However, this is a field that may open up again at any time. Alumni interested would do well to contact and keep in touch with the officer in charge of Procurement, Army Air Corps, at the Air Corps Area Headquarters of the region in which they live. Any Air Corps recruiting office can give the exact address.

In general, what was wanted were men aged 30-60, with business, teaching, or athletic coaching experience, most urgently for Combat Intelligence officers, Instruction Officers, and Recreational Officers, though 34 various types of officers were listed as needed, with many types demanding previous military experience. The Army Air Corps was prepared to grant commissions as high as Captain and to waive minor physical qualifications on eyes, teeth, color blindness and weight. (Not badheart, blood pressure or hernia.)
