In recent weeks the outstanding results of the 1943 Alumni Fund campaign were announced. The record of 1922 was outstanding and I want to take this opportunity to honor Jack Dodd and his assistant agents for their superb work, all of which contributed so materially to the high percentages reached. I am confident that next year we shall reach at least the 100 per cent goal in both number of contributors and in total cash objective.

I know I speak for every single member of the class in expressing thanks and appreciation to Frank Horan for his stewardship of the issues of the Alumni Fund Twoter.

News items of general interest are not as many or as varied as the number usually on your secretary's desk in the early fall, and 1 should like to suggest that postcards or letters would be most welcome.

You may recall previous paragraphs regarding Harford Steen, and I am sure you will all be interested and glad to know that he is now back on the job with his company, the Interstate Bag Co. of Walden, N. Y. Following a bout with pneumonia some time ago, Hartford was left with a tuberculous condition requiring hospitalization. Recovery is now definite and he is able to spend a reasonable amount of time supervising his business. We all hope for continued and speedy recovery of his health.

Gaylord Anderson has recently been promoted to lieutenant colonel and is on duty in the office of the Surgeon General in Washington, D. C., as Chief of the Division of Medical Intelligence. He is on leave from his post as head of the division of perventive Medicine and Public Health of the Medical School of the University of Minnesota.

Johnny Weare has changed his address with Cambridge Rubber Sales Co. from Baltimore to Chicago, where he is sales manager for that district. His home address is 637 Abbottsford Road, Kenilworth, Ill. Hotchkiss, at al, please note.

Had a fine letter recently from Al Lyon, who is in the upper ranks of Montgomery Ward & Co. in New York City.

Also, word from Bill Angell reports that he is currently on duty as Lt. Comdr. in the Medical Corps of the USNR at an eastern naval hospital. His superior officer is "Babe" Miner '24 (brother of our own Stan).

Gene Hotchkiss' boy Frank is now enrolled as a private in the Army Air Force and is being trained at a southern field. Young Frank had been entered at Hanover in the class of 1947 and would have entered Dartmouth this fall had not the war intervened.

The Research Products Corp. has sent Bruce Cunningham to Madison, Wise., where he is staying at the Madison Club. Last I heard he was on the trail of Lt. Russ Putney and Capt. Wendell Boyer, both stationed at Madison, and may have something to report soon.

We are sorry to tell you of the death of Priscilla, wife of Ted Grandfield. Our sympathy is extended to Ted and his youngsters, Stuart and Louise.

Dick and Mary Litchfield were fortunate to spend a weekend in Hanover during the summer, and Dick reports on an interesting hobby—that of collecting Dartmouthiana— particularly, a file of college catalogues presently running back from 1943 over a hundred years.
