SIDNEY C. HAYWARD '26, Secretary of the College, brought to a close on September 1 a 13-year period as editor-in-chief of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Under the pressure of his work as Liaison Officer between the Navy and the College, which he has been carrying on for more than a year now, he found it necessary to submit his resignation to the executive committee of the Dartmouth Secretaries Association, on whose behalf he has directed the MAGAZINE to a preeminent place among such publications in this country.

To succeed Mr. Hayward, the executive committee of the Secretaries Association has elected Charles E. Widmayer '30, Director of the College News Service and associate editor of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE for the past eight years.

Another staff election is that of Richard N. Tarlow '44 as business manager of the MAGAZINE. Mr. Tarlow, who joined the College staff this summer, is teaching at Tuck School, is assisting in liaison work with the Navy, and is business manager of the Dartmouth Log, weekly college paper.

Although relinquishing the editorship of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, Mr. Hayward, as Secretary of the College, will continue to head up the Dartmouth alumni organization, in the capacity of secretary and executive head of the Dartmouth Secretaries Association, the Dartmouth Alumni Council, and the General Association of Dartmouth Alumni.
