WILLIAM K. STEWART, professor of comparative literature here since 1919 and senior member of all the Dartmouth faculty, has been elected Professor Emeritus, President Hopkins announced recently. Mr. Stewart joined the Dartmouth faculty 44 years ago, in 1899, as an instructor in German and soon advanced to a full professorship in this department. His most recent work in this field was the editing of Adventures in WorldLiterature in 1936.

He is a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity, Phi Beta Kappa, the Modern Language Association of America, the Society for Advancement of Scandinavian Studies, and the American Association of University Professors.
