HERE AND THERE

Lt. (jg) Alan V. Tishman attached to the 20th United States Naval Construction Battalion was recently commended for his superior performances in unloading materials on an unnamed beachhead in the South Pacific. This commendation came from both the Army and Navy A letter from Dr. Harvey Sanborn telling of his son Phillip's internment in Headquarters Military Prison Camps of Philippine Islands No. 3, stating that Phil would like to hear from his friends. Instructions for sending mail to prisoner's of war:—Should be typed or printed in block capitals, be brief and adhere strictly to personal matters, sender's name and address on the back of envelope, postage free, and marked "Prisoner of War." Packages cannot as yet be sent to the Orient. News from Bob English states that he has been four years teaching high school in Portland, Maine, and had a daughter on May 30. By now he has entered the United States Army Air Force as an aviation cadet. Ens. Richard Schumacher Jr. is now attending the Navy Supply Corps School at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. Hugh McLaren Jr. was recently made a Lt. (jg) and F. Russell Fette was recently promoted to Lt. (sg). Ted Wolfe became the father of his second child, also a girl, on September 24. Whit Cushing was recently graduated from Navigation School in Hondo, Texas, and commissioned second lieutenant as a navigator. He is now stationed in Cloves, New Mexico, with an overseas training unit.

ENGAGEMENTS AND MARRIAGES

Recently the engagement of Beverly Cleary -Roach was announced to Lt. (jg) Fred Blatchford who was recently home on a thirty-day leave from his duties in the Pacific as a dive bomber pilot in the Naval Air Corps. The engagement of Miss Edna Louise Emerson of Kensington to Capt. Bob Howe was recently announced. Miss Emerson was a second lieutenant in the Army Nurses Corps in North Africa, where Bob is also stationed. Miss Elizabeth Baxter of Tuckahoe, N. Y., engaged to Ens. Seymour Rutherford Jr.; Miss Mary Sidney Barr of Rye, N. Y., to Dr. Allyn Ley, lieutenant Navy Medical Corps.

The announced marriages of Miss Jeanne Bostwick of Northville, Conn., to Earl Robison of Meriden; Miss Evelyn Peterson to Capt. Warren Hayward, who is stationed at Camp Davis; Miss Marjorie Fowler to Lt. (jg) Alden Loberg in Concord, N. H. They plan to make their home in Oklahoma.

CAPT. ROBERT J. LOUGHRY '39, who, as a pilot, is stationed at Selman Field, La.
