Walter Cobb spent ten days in the Massachusetts Memorial Hospital and much improved was able to be home in time for Christmas.

In the Hanover News and Personals of the December 31, 1942 issue of The Landmark was the item: "Dan E. Richardson is at the Mary Hitchcock hospital suffering from severe burns."

Dr. Carson Abijah Smith writes to his classmates on December 31, an interesting letter of a Vermont country doctor driving over the hills searching for another newborn child. Only classmates he has seen recently were Richardson and O'Brien. Just now the news in Strafford, Vt., is an attempt to re-open some old copper mines. Carson attends church occasionally but omits prayer meetings. Of course he goes to Grange and Masonic meetings.
