Charley reported in midJanuary that the thermometer was 750 to 80 in the shade and 70° at night. He had taken his first swim and was planning on one daily. The beach is only a few hundred feet from his apartment.

Billy and Mrs. Earl fled the terrors of winter in Leominster and established them- selves at 256 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, for the duration—of winter. There is plenty of it right outside their front door today.
