KEN PHILLIPS pens from Omaha to Fletch Burton, "Wish I could see some of you oftener but cannot do so until I go broke and settle down with the other Republicans in Maine" .... Wilk, wife and kiddies will live in Bend, Oregon, for time being where the Cap'n has been transferred .... Andy won't thank me for this, but "Modern Plastics by Dr. Andrew J. Scarlett" has been presented so many times that the Kindly Professor himself has lost count, the last being before Worcester, Mass., Kiwanis Club where Abiel Wood and Norton Cushman were Chesty Listeners and Applauders with that "I knew him when" stuff.... it's a timely subject by a Grand Guy.
BEN WILLIAMS gets a tremendous amount of publicity each time he writes a new book, and his latest Time of Peace is running true to form among the leaders.... but then why not, for Ben is recognized as one of America's topflight authors?
PINEAPPLE HANK, of The House of Haserot, has gone to Hawaii again his first trip since Pearl Harbor.... at which time he and wife were two days out of port on way back to the mainland.... which makes an interesting saga in itself.... called together by the captain who spoke something like this, "The Japs have done much damage at Pearl Harbor. A mer- chant ship has been torpedoed 200 miles north of us. We are driving the engines wide open. Nothing can catch us from the rear. The good Lord only knows what is ahead. You will have to live in the dark, for everything will be in blackout. And, gentlemen, the bar is padlocked.
HANKUS PANKUS was the only other Ten- ner at recent Alumni Council meeting in N. Y., but we did run across Obbie Cole- man who has not changed much in recent years Back in college days, Obbie was a grand fellow as was his pal, Jim Colgan, of the great Colgan-Coleman Variety Spe- cialists.

ANDY SCARLETT needs all possible aid in the closing days of the Alumni Fund .... an early start this year has misled some into inaction .... but there is still time at this writing to give Andy and the College a generous b005t.... either in your annual subscription or an addition to what you have already donated.
UP HERE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE there is quite a bit of talk about President Hopkins becoming the next Senator from our state .... at first, we couldn't see it at all because of the tremendous loss the College would suffer.... but after some cool deliberating with our inner self, the idea became a bit intriguing.... and why not? He'd make a topflight Senator and might help to obliterate the blight which has thrived in the Senatorial Chambers in recent years. A lot can happen before the fall of 1944 .... and then, too, there is the no little matter of getting a successor capable of carrying on what he and President Tucker have created. Let's see what Time unravels in the next six months.
