Thacher Worthen's son Fred was reported last December as an Air Cadet taking special training in the Photographic Department of the Air Corps at Yale. Fred received his commission as second lieutenant, spent about three months at Will Rogers Field at Oklahoma City, and in April was reported en route to parts unknown. He is attached to a Photo Technical Squadron.
Gilman C. Shattuck, Roger's son, entered College on July 7 as a member of the class of '4B.
Harry Kelly has been vacationing at the Mountain View House, Whitefield, N. H. During his stay there Parker Tabor and his wife and the Ben Washburns joined Harry for a brief reunion. One of Harry's daughters —Jean—is director of a Red Cross Club near Liverpool, England. Her older sister is married to Capt. Daniel B. Dowling, who is sta- tioned at Ft. Benning.
Gus Braun celebrated his 6oth birthday anniversary on June 28, 1944. It was an event in the history of Everett, Mass., where Gus has spent 52 years o£ his life, 36 of those years in public service without compensation. Gus served for 16 consecutive years as a member of the Everett School Committee. From 1914 to 1919 he was a member of the City Council and also a member of the Stadium Commission. His vocation is commercial photography and he and Mrs. Braun operate a gift shop.
Ted Greenleafs son, Laurie, according to his proud dad, got the war fever during his junior year at the University of Maine, enrolled and was called into service in July, 1941, and sent to Texas for training. He was determined to fly, and when counted out at Randolph Field, he promptly enrolled in the R.A.F. and resumed training at another camp in Texas. After completing his training successfully with the R.A.F. he applied for transfer to the U. S. Air Force and was accepted and commissioned as a second lieutenant. Then followed a period of instructing in flying and aerial gunnery, after which he was sent to England. Ted received a letter from Laurie on June 7, the day after D-Day, saying that things were "sure popping." His latest letter- to his family reported that he had been on four flying missions. Ted is still in the building construction business at Auburn, Me.
A 1 White's son graduated from high school this year and intended to enter Dartmouth this fall, but Uncle Sam intervened and son Charles was selected for the Navy V-12 unit at the University of the South at Sewanee. A 1 still hopes that Charles will be able to graduate from Dartmouth after the war is ended.
Chet Sandy's son John is in New Delhi, India. His daughter Barbara is married to a sailor and lives in Washington. His younger daughter, now Mrs. James A. Russell, married a Marine second lieutenant and lives at Fredericksburg, Va. Chet's new business address is c/o Standard Oil Cos. of Penn., Pittsburgh, Penn.
Bill Cummings has two sons and two sonsin-law in service. The older son is an engineer in Alaska, the younger a Navy flier at Olathe Field, Kansas. One son-in-law is a captain in the Signal Corps, and the other a sergeant in England.
