A note from Bill North enclosed with an attractive catalog about the Dublin School in Dublin, New Hampshire, where Bill teaches. We quote "I thought perhaps you'd like to see what life is like in the country. I almost never get away from it and when I do I have to comb the hay out of my hair. But I seem to thrive on it, and thanks to your monthly column manage to find out what people are doing in the big world. Technically, according to the Army, I'm engaged in instruction of war courses—mathematics, history, cartography, and cryptography, all of which sounds much more impressive than it is. And they keep throwing me out of Devens and telling me to go back and teach them some more. So I do."
Back in January Bob Williamson and your scribe went over to New York for a day. On the way over in the morning, as the train was pulling out of New London, a familiar figure entered our car. Although we had not seen him since graduation we recognized him immediately as Owen Garfield who is still working with the Bell Laboratories in New York. He had apparently been up to New London on some "hush-hush" work for the Navy, for he would tell us nothing about it.
